You Can Lose Weight Quickly - Some Tips For You

November 15th, 2008

There are many ways to lose weight quickly. We have five tips to accelerate your weight loss regardless of your diet plan. Remember, no matter which diet you follow, stick to your plan and don’t cheat. Your goal will be reached if you stick to it. Anyway, without any further delay, here are our five tips.

Get a good night’s sleep. Sleeping well allows your body to recuperate from the day’s stresses. Studies show that not sleeping can contribute to your weight gain. So remember this tip and get your eight hours a day and you’ll be fine.

Drink enough water. Yes, drinking water helps you to lose weight. There are several reasons for this. First off, the body needs water to metabolize fat and remove it from the body. Second, keeping hydrated protects you from bloating. It seems counterintuitive, but drinking less water can actually bloat you because your body holds onto the water if you don’t drink enough. Last, but not least, many people mistake thirst for hunger. Drinking enough water helps you to eat less.

If you want to lose weight quickly, stop drinking sodas. Have you ever heard that drinking diet sodas makes you fat? Well, it is true. First off, when the body is tricked into thinking that you consumed sugar, it will look to replace those calories. It will trigger the hunger impulse and make you eat to replace the missing calories. People who drink diet sodas consume up to 30% more food at each sitting than those who don’t. There are also many who believe that artificial sweeteners contribute to many ailments including depression. Drink water, not soda, your body will love you for it.

Don’t eat past 6:00PM. Eating early will allow your body to burn off the calories before bedtime. If you eat late, right before you go to sleep, the body will store all those calories as fat. As a result, even if you are following your diet, you will make it less successful if you eat your last meal late in the evening.

Don’t skip breakfast! If you want to lose weight quickly, you must stoke that metabolic furnace. Your body needs food to start the day right. If you skip breakfast to save more calories for lunchtime, you will do yourself a disservice. Your metabolism will stall and as a result, you will lose less weight.

Hopefully these tips will accelerate your weight loss. Nobody wants to make their diet less successful, so keep these tips in mind when you diet.

How You Can Lose Weight Fast

November 14th, 2008

How can I lose weight fast? That question comes up over and over again. Nobody wants a slow and painful weight loss. We understand the frustration that many people feel when they starve themselves for a week to see a one pound weight loss. Losing weight the right way can also be fast if you have a good diet. If you lose too much weight in a short period of time, most of this weight loss is actually water weight, not true fat loss. The upshot of this is the moment you resume your normal eating habits, the weight will come back with startling rapidity, literally almost overnight.

We have seen dieters go up and down 10 pounds in days. You want to lose weight fast, but not too fast. Time and time again, the formula seems to be the same. Stay away from carbohydrates, especially sugar. Eat several small meals during the day to keep your metabolism from stalling and to keep that hunger at bay. Refrain from eating past about 6:00PM or so. Late eating makes you fatter. The body does not have time to burn those calories before you go to sleep. Start exercising, you’ll feel better and burn off calories, even after the exercise is over. Exercising yields many benefits. When you exercise regularly, your body produces more serotonin. Serotonin is the happy hormone. Without it, you feel really rotten. People who don’t exercise typically have much lower serotonin levels than those who do. Exercise also keeps your metabolism running at a higher level. This means more calories burned even when you are not exercising.

When you want to lose weight fast, you need to approach the problem from both sides. You need a sensible diet and you need to exercise. Losing weight too fast can be both hazardous to your health and counterproductive because of the rebound effect. One thing to remember is weight loss is not linear. Your first few pounds will come off much easier than the last pound. As you lose weight, your body becomes increasingly resistant to any additional weight loss. The closer you get to your ideal weight, the more your body will resist letting go of those last few pounds. Diet and exercise go together if you want to lose weight and keep it off. You don’t want to be that jogger who has not lost a single pound but is running all around the neighborhood for years in the same sweat soaked running outfit. Do it right and the weight will come off quickly and safely.

Lose That Stomach Fat

November 11th, 2008

How do we lose stomach fat? Before we answer that question, let us first clear up some common beliefs that are not entirely true. Some people actually think that by exercising a body part, the fat will disappear from that body part. An example of this is the person who does hundreds of sit-ups a day and expects to see their belly fat disappear. If you are not building muscle, training a group of muscles can have a slimming effect because the muscles pull in the fat making you look a little slimmer. You are not reducing fat in that area, however, and further exercising may build muscle under the fat which will make you appear fatter.

So if doing exercises that work out our stomach muscles doesn’t make us lose stomach fat, what does work? The answer is simple. By following a diet and losing weight, we will lose the fat on our stomachs. Different people have different fat distributions on their bodies. The problem with people who have excess belly fat is they are more prone to heart attacks and strokes. If those excess pounds get deposited around your middle, you need to be more vigilant than the average person who’s body distributes the fat evenly.

Does that mean we don’t advocate sit-ups and crunches as part of your exercise routine? Of course not. As we said before, although doing lots of exercises involving our midsection does not directly make us lose stomach fat, it helps us lose fat by burning calories. A side benefit is strong stomach muscles help us look slimmer and also help alleviate lower back problems.

Lose The Belly Fat Fast

November 10th, 2008

If you have that giant potbelly, you must lose belly fat before you get in serious trouble with your health. As we have said before, people who tend to store fat in their bellies are at a much higher risk for heart attacks and stroke. If there is a family history of these diseases, you must act quickly for the sake of your own health. Everyone’s body reacts differently to overeating. Some people have lots of back fat, some people have large bellies, and some people put it all on their thighs and rear ends.

Unfortunately for your cardiovascular health, if you don’t lose the belly fat, you will be in serious trouble someday. We don’t want that to happen, so losing weight is a priority. I have some good news for you. If your body tends to store fat in one area, when you start losing weight, that area will start to lose it first. So, you can lose the belly fat by simply dieting with your favorite diet plan. Remember, spot reduction is a myth and your fat will stay on your belly no matter how many sit-ups you do, especially if you don’t put that bag of chips down!

While you are dieting, there are some things you can do to minimize that fat stomach look. You can get a compression garment which will provide support for your back and stomach. Some people report that their midsection would stay smaller looking for a while even after removing the compression garment. Another thing you can do is exercises to strengthen your abdominal muscles which will pull your stomach in. Remember, weight training which builds abdominal muscle is to be avoided because building muscle under fat only makes you look fatter.

So to recap, here’s what we learned. Start a sensible diet to lose belly fat and get slimmer and healthier overall. Wear a compression garment to make you look slimmer and keep you motivated. Strengthen your abdominal muscles to pull that gut in and look slimmer. Over time, you will find that losing weight wasn’t as hard as you thought it would be. Your heart will thank you for the effort, trust me.

Fast Weight Loss Diet Secrets

November 8th, 2008

Are you looking for a fast weight loss diet? If you are, chances are you are looking for a shortcut to losing weight. There are diets that can help you lose weight in a hurry. Those diets are usually severe and very difficult to follow. Also, diets that cause a really rapid weight loss can be hazardous to your health if followed for too long a period of time. The body is extremely adaptable so diets that don’t provide the proper nutrition often backfire because the body goes into starvation mode and any quick weight loss gains are erased just as quickly.

So how do we get the body to lose weight without going into starvation mode and storing everything we eat? The answer is simply by varying your diet so that the body does not become accustomed to any one approach. Confuse the body with a varying weight loss diet. Here’s an example of what we mean. On one day, you could eliminate all the carbohydrate from your diet. Go with high protein and a little fat. This is an example of the Atkins Diet. He advocates no more than 20 grams of carbohydrate per day for the first two weeks of his diet. You can take a page from his book and start off with that approach. Remember, don’t let your body get accustomed to any particular diet. Switch off to keep the body off balance.

Once you have started to lose weight, keep mixing it up. If you picked the low carbohydrate fast weight loss diet, throw your body a curve ball by interjecting a fruit day. The body won’t have time to adjust to the sudden loss of protein and the addition of fruit sugars in one day. The result will be your weight loss will keep moving along nicely.

Fast Weight Loss For You

November 7th, 2008

Achieving a fast weight loss is possible only if we are determined, disciplined and have the right diet plan. Many of us have very short attention spans and if we don’t achieve our goals quickly, we give up and move on. Hence the relatively new phenomenon of the serial dieter. Have you seen him/her? Every few days they move on to another diet because the one they were on last week didn’t work fast enough. Please sit back and take a breath. Your body has gotten used to a pattern of eating that led you to being overweight, isn’t that true? Do you really think that some shockingly different diet is going to help you in the long run?

Let us take a concrete example. If you want to lose 20 pounds, you need to budget the time for it. Experts agree that smarter choices in your diet combined with moderate exercise can safely take 2 pounds off your body in a week’s time. If you are extremely thin (you should not be dieting at all), or you are morbidly obese, your mileage will vary. To some people a fast weight loss IS two pounds a week. If you are able to lose 10 pounds in less than a week, your body will try to put that weight back on as soon as you are off the diet.

As we were saying before, your body has a definite setpoint. It is accustomed to a specific eating pattern which has been firmly established over a period of many years. A sudden, fast weight loss is something your body will fight against. Your body will fight to restore the original balance. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to make small changes and stick to them. Examples include exercising, cutting out snacks, reducing meal portions and other changes that add up to great results over time. If you have been overweight for many years, suddenly changing your diet can actually make you lose a significant amount of weight. This is because you don’t give the body enough time to adapt to the new diet and the weight comes off. If you are losing a few pounds for a party or event, then it is fine. Be prepared for the weight to come back as soon as you resume your normal eating habits. Why is this so? It is so because your original diet habits made you overweight in the first place. Make small, permanent changes and you will lose weight and keep it off.

Tell Me The Fastest Way To Lose Weight!

November 6th, 2008

Probably the most asked question we get is what is the fastest way to lose weight? Most people think that the less food you consume, the faster you lose the weight. Yes, if you follow this to its logical conclusion, you must starve in order to lose the most weight. If you think that a fast will make you lose the most weight, you are wrong.

Our bodies evolved over the centuries for maximum survival success. This means that the body is an extremely adaptable efficient machine. This is actually a problem because of our modern lifestyle. We are no longer hunter gatherers and most of us have jobs sitting at a desk for hours. Since we are not running around all day and eating small meals, our bodies are storing the surplus calories at an alarming rate. Every year, we are becoming fatter and fatter. So what is the fastest way to lose weight? We must work with our bodies as they were designed and fool the fat storing mechanisms.

So what’s the plan of action? First off, we can only use a small number of calories at each meal. Most of us, especially those of us who are overweight simply consume too many calories at each meal. We eat a large breakfast (or even worse, we skip it altogether), a large lunch and a large dinner late. People who commute to work are especially vulnerable because work ends at 5:00PM and we are lucky if we get home before 6:30PM. You must make a concerted effort to eat smaller meals, don’t eat late in the evening, eat a good breakfast and don’t snack in front of the television.

So what’s the fastest way to lose weight? Exercising, eating several small meals throughout the day, not eating late and not snacking during television time. An implementation of the small meals protocol can be found in the fat loss for idiots diet.

You Must Exercise to Lose Weight

November 5th, 2008

What are the best exercises to lose weight? This is a common question. You need to exercise to help you lose weight and keep it off. It is not a good idea to just lower your caloric intake without incorporating some kind of exercise regimen. Most people at least those we know hate to exercise. I hear lots of excuses for sitting on the couch and watching television. Watching television will only contribute to your getting fatter and fatter. Two of the main reasons are the fact that you are sedentary during the session and you are constantly being bombarded by fast food commercials. Yeah, yeah, I know, I still did not tell you which exercises will help you lose weight. We’ll get to that in a minute.

In order to lose weight, you need to get your metabolism going. You also need to mobilize the major muscle groups to get the job done. You can’t just lift a beer off the dinner table ten times in a row and call it a day. For weightlifters, the best exercise to build muscle and mobilize your metabolism is the squat. Typically, this involves lots of weight and can be very dangerous if not done properly. For the rest of us, walking is the key. Walking is a low impact activity that virtually everyone can do safely. Some of you may be asking about running or jogging. These activities are not for everyone and running on concrete sidewalks can actually cause great damage to your knees and joints.

So walking is one of the best exercises to lose weight. You should walk at lest 30 minutes twice a day. If you are not fit enough to walk twice a day, you can slowly build up to it. Start by walking even 5 or 10 minutes a day. Slowly work up to the 30 minute level. If you have not exercised in a long time, it is best to get advice from your doctor before starting any exercise regimen.

Celebrity Weight Loss - Good or Bad?

November 2nd, 2008

Following celebrity weight loss diets is a fun thing to do in your spare time. Every time I see a model or celebrity on television, I go look up their plan for fitness. Make no mistake about it. If you are over 5 and a half feet tall and weigh under 100 pounds, I don’t want to see your diet. Unfortunately, some models are literally starving themselves to death. Living on caffeine, cigarettes and drugs is not an example anyone should follow, especially impressionable teens. Having said that, we always look forward to who has the best beach body and who has the worst. This week, poor Britney Spears got her body back, but she’s still reeling from all the negative publicity about her fat tummy from a couple of weeks ago. Who can tell what’s going on from week to week.

Do celebrity weight loss diets actually work? Depends on whom you are talking to. Can anyone agree that they don’t work for Kirsty Alley? She’s actually the spokesperson for a well known diet company. She makes the cover of celebrity mags every few weeks because everyone loves to tear up celebrities when they are down. Does dieting work for Heidi Klum? You bet! What does she know that we don’t? Well, she claims that taking photos of herself in the buff every week motivated her to lose the weight. I think her husband was motivated by those photos too! How about Jennifer Lopez? Well, she says she cuts back on the carbohydrates and doesn’t consume alcohol. Also, she’s a diehard cardio buff. How about Oprah? Ahh… never mind.

Celebrity diet advice ranges from the strange to the downright dangerous. Here are a few tidbits that come from all across the spectrum. A disclaimer here; don’t take any of these statements as diet advice, this is for entertainment only. OK, here goes. One model claims that she only eats fruit before noon. Another says that she eats every other day. Here’s a good one; one model’s claim to success is one meal a day and black coffee the rest of the time. How about sniffing grapefruit oil to suppress your appetite? Or the celebrity weight loss diet consisting of nothing more than fruit juices? Laxatives anyone? Yep, laxative tea is the rage for some teeny boppers, drinking over 10 cups a day. Way to go to get permanent health problems.

We could go on and on. There is just so much material to work with. Please don’t assume that celebrities know anything about proper weight loss. Most of them have personal trainers who work intensively with them before filming movies or before large events. Just because someone is thin on television does not mean you should follow or listen to their advice unless you are just entertaining yourselves like we do.

What Is The Best Way To Lose Weight?

November 1st, 2008

What’s the best way to lose weight for me? What may be the best for you in terms of a weight loss plan may be a disaster to someone else. Everything depends on your needs and personality and body type. There are many questions to ask yourselves before starting any diet plan. We’ll give you some guidelines and point you in the right direction. As always, please consult your physician before embarking on any weight loss effort or exercise regimen.

How much weight do you need to lose? If you need to lose 10 pounds, then some simple diet changes and a small increase in activity level may be sufficient. If you need to lose 100 pounds or more then you are in a different category entirely. Most of us fall in-between these extremes.

How soon do you need to lose the weight? If you need to lose 10 pounds in 6 months, you are in a great position. If you need to lose 100 pounds by next week, then nothing will work for you. A general rule of thumb is the maximum safe weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week. So if you need to lose 20 pounds, plan on taking 10 weeks to get there.

Are you in shape? Your fitness level will determine how much exercise you can safely incorporate into your diet routine. Obviously, marathon athletes will be able to work off pounds through rigorous training. Regardless of your fitness level, most of us are able to walk at least a few minutes a day. Walking is a fantastic low impact exercise which yields great dividends.

How busy is your schedule? Not everyone is able to cook special meals. Some diet plans require extensive preparations to cook the meals. If you are a working individual you may not have time to constantly cook. For you, a delivered meal plan may be the answer. Two of the most popular plans are the Medifast plan and the Nutrisystem plan. Neither of these is really expensive and most of us can afford it for the two or three months it normally takes to lose the weight.

Do you have any dietary constraints? There are many situations where a certain diet cannot be followed. The best way to lose weight for a vegan will not be the best way for everyone else. You must check to see if the diet you are planning on is compatible with your needs. Diabetics have more constraints on their diets. Vegans and vegetarians cannot consume meat. Religious needs may also play a part in the selection of foods. Make sure you ask the right questions before buying a meal plan or diet book.
